Richard Baggaley - Painter & Artist based in the UK

As an artist and designer, I love creating! During the lockdown, I had the time to really paint and experiment with techniques and textures. I was delighted to be invited onto 'Landscape Artist of the Year' and found myself sitting in a pod at the Eden Project on a lovely sunny day in July. I had the most magical day, painting and meeting fellow artists and the hosts of LAOTY.

I have always had a fascination with chairs! Any chairs! Chairs outside cafes and restaurants, abandoned chairs found in strange places - every chair has its own individual history, who sat on it? the chat & gossip spoken on that chair! - if only they could talk! The wonderful shapes and shadows they cast - this inspired me to paint a series called "Sitting Comfortably?"
